Saxifraga stolonifera, Strawberry Begonia || 4" pot
Saxifraga stolonifera. Strawberry begonia, strawberry geranium, creeping rockfoil. In a 4" diameter nursery pot.
Saxifraga stolonifera, also known as strawberry geranium and strawberry begonia, is a bewildering specimen: they are neither geraniums, begonias, nor strawberry plants. They are, however, a gorgeous plant that yields little blossoms.
Easy to care for, strawberry begonias love the partial shade as much as bright indirect light. If you have a spot for morning light and afternoon shade, you’re golden. Like a strawberry plant, they grow runners that spread quickly when given enough light, which makes for a showy display when kept in hanging pots. Moderate watering will do for this low maintenance plant; when the top of the soil is dry, it’s time to water. Holding off on watering so often in the winter will encourage more flowers come spring.
